We tell them that the sooner they get out of their comfort zones and start making mistakes, the faster they will learn and grow. One of the worst things any professional can do is stay inside a safe zone and become complacent. If you want to be successful sooner rather than later, you’re going to have to get super uncomfortable and screw up like crazy. A Star on the Rise – Tarek Beidas, Agon Management Group President

Our very own President, Tarek Beidas, was recognized as a “Rising Star” entrepreneur in the sales and marketing industry and everyone here at Agon Management Group is elated! Tarek was recognized based on the growth of his company as well as the revenue that he has generated for his clients. As a part of this elite award, he was treated to a VIP weekend in LA. And since we couldn’t all go, we made him share his experience!

Tarek left Agon Management Group (McClean, Virginia) and caught a flight out of DC on Thursday. His Spotify station of choice was “New Music Friday” and made for an enjoyable trip all the way to LAX! Once there, he headed over to the Mondrian Hotel in Hollywood where he and the rest of the entrepreneurs being recognized as “Rising Stars” were staying.

“The entire weekend we were treated like celebrities,” explained Tarek. We were being followed around with cameras and being catered to.”

agon-management-group-risingstarA few highlights of the trip included a wine and paint night for as the reception party and a VIP suite at the Lakers Game. The bus ride to the Staples Center was long due to the typical LA traffic, but enjoyable getting to hang out with fellow entrepreneurs, and there were complimentary beverages. The suite was fully loaded with a buffet and a private bar. Aside from the awesome events, each attendee was even given a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses, and had a custom suit fitting where they were able to hand select their favorite fabrics and patterns! We look forward to seeing Tarek’s choices in the up and coming weeks!

So clearly the trip to LA was extremely fun, but Tarek made sure to add that above all, the best part of the trip was really getting to know this group of fellow entrepreneurs and learn a lot of valuable information. He told us that he gained a wealth of knowledge on entrepreneurship and how to take Agon Management Group to the next level.

Agon Management Group Trains for Success

It has been a record-breaking year in McLean, Virginia for Agon Management Group! The sales and marketing firm has received numerous awards for their performance as well as promoted a new Manager AND two Assistant Managers. This level of results is attributed to the hard work of the entire team, but especially the Trainers in the company. Why? Because it is through their examples and their ability to effectively transfer knowledge to new employees that keep the firm growing. We caught up with one of the top Trainers, Robbin Carter, to learn more about her and her success with this high-performing team.

Although Robbinagon-management-robbincarter has only been with Agon Management Group for nine months, she has quickly become a pacesetter in the company. She leads from the front when it comes to the results she brings to our clients, as well as her ability to effectively coach and train others.

President Tarek Beidas shared, “Robbin is very competitive. She is extremely goal oriented and she knows what she needs to do to accomplish her goals.”

In a firm that provides merit-based advancement opportunities, all of those qualities are extremely valuable. Robbin believes that because she genuinely cares about others she is able to naturally create a personal relationship with others. Not only does this help her with customer acquisitions, but also when it comes to coaching her team.

So what is it that motivates Robbin to continue to excel at Agon Management Group? She explained that there weren’t many opportunities in her hometown in the South — although she made sure to add that the people there are super nice! Despite having to work hard just to get by, she always maintained a great attitude and a positive mentally.

“Now that I have been given the chance at a life-changing opportunity it gives me all the more reason to work 10 times harder,” said Robbin.

From Penn State Law to Agon Management Group

Agon Management Group, located in McLean, Virginia is the ideal opportunity for recent college graduates to start their careers. With a high energy and fun work environment, coupled with career training and performance-based advancement, entry level employees have the ability to learn, grow, and have fun while doing it! The same has been true for Assistant Manager Sarah Arshad. We caught up with her again to learn more about her college experience.

Arshad joined Agon Management Group as an entry level associate after receiving her Master’s Degree in International Law from Penn State University Dickinson School of Law in 2015. Although the McLean firm does not require a specific degree as a prerequisite for an entry-level position, we were curious if Arshad felt as though she was utilizing hers. This is what she had to say: “Since I focused on international law (oil & gas law) I feel like my knowledge has been helpful in grasping the process of the campaign we are working with; my goal is to write my thesis on marketing business to business. What better way to utilize your degree than to defend the business you are working in! Moreover, there’s always a legal aspect to any kind of occupation and I just feel lucky that I have the opportunity to utilize that. Not to mention compliance, which is a significant part of this business.”

While studying at Penn State, Arshad also established an organizaagon-management-saraharshadgraduationtion within the law school to create a platform for international and national students to engage both socially and academically. “It was a GREAT success!  We had soo much fun. I’ve met people from all over the world and built life-long friendships,” explained Arshad. She also participated in Penn State Arbitration days, planned hay-rides and partook in THON which is the biggest charity event to raise money for children with cancer.

Starting your first job right out college can be intimidating, so who better to ask for advice than someone who recently went through it? Arshad worked her way up at Agon Management Group in a short period of time so we asked what her thoughts were on the matter.

“My advice is to be open-minded and not judge a job or opportunity. You never know if that is what is going to give you the growth you really looking for. Moreover, as a graduate you have very limited experience so having a potential employer offer you an opportunity: Stop thinking, just do it! Any experience is a good experience.”

Arshad told us that if she had the chance, she’d do it all over again! College that is. One of her favorite memagon-management-saraharshadwhiteoutories of Penn State was that the Law building was located right in front of Beaver Stadium (which is the 5th biggest college football stadium in the United States), so every time there was a home-game the tailgating started right outside her building! “It was insane!” she said. This is also where the WHITE-OUT game is hosted. Which is considered one of, if not the most reputable college football game of the year and everyone wears white! She wrapped up her college reminiscing with the well-known Penn State, “We are!”

Results or Excuses — You Choose

After being inspired by Brian Tracy’s The Power of Self Discipline: NO EXCUSES, Agon Management Group’s CEO, Tarek Beidas, was inspired to share with us 3 ways to help you be more proactive in your career.

No excuses… even on #NationalPinkDay!

1. Find the root of the issue.
We make excuses for a reason. Whether we don’t want to invest the time, we’re afraid of failure or it seems to hard to get started, whatever your reasoning is, it’s important to understand the psychology of procrastination. Take a moment to sit down and think about why you keep pushing off a certain task or objective. Once you’ve narrowed it down, say it out loud! Here’s an example: “I’m afraid to work out because of how out of shape I really am.” When you say it aloud and realize how trivial it really sounds, it can help you realize that an excuse it just your mind’s way of testing your will power. All athletes and successful entrepreneurs have had doubts before, but they realized the cause of their excuses and worked daily until they were no more.

Lesson: Your willpower and mental strength is there! You just need to find what’s getting in the way of you getting started!

2. Have an accountability partner.
Making excuses is easy. Having someone who calls you out for not staying true to your word is hard to find. Invest in finding someone that can truly help hold you accountable! Whether this is a mentor, best friend, a significant other, spouse or business partner, it’s so helpful to have someone to hold you accountable to goals or commitments you made but are wavering on. If you find yourself making excuses about going to the gym, find a friend who’s really into fitness and has a solid gym routine. If you need help in business, find someone who’s more successful than you to offer coaching and guidance!

Lesson: It’s easier to make excuses on your own than it is with someone in your corner holding you to what you say!

3. Healthy body, healthy mind!
You’ve probably heard this a million times, but how much more productive do you feel when you’ve had a good nights sleep, a solid breakfast, and healthy meals during the day? Maybe it’s just us, but when we have a clear mind and a nourished body, we feel at Agon Management Group that we can take on the world. On the contrary, on days when we don’t get nearly enough shut-eye and a diet composed of Twinkies and cheese puffs, we find ourselves more prone to making excuses as our mind is literally starved for nourishment, sleep, etc.

Lesson: If you take care of the internal, the external will follow suit. It is easier to follow through on your commitments and make fewer excuses when you take care of yourself first.
