3 Quotes To Supercharge Your Day

Agon Management Group has three quotes to get you motivated today.

“Be undeniably good. No marketing effort or social media buzzword can be a substitute for that.” –Anthony Volodkin, Hype Machine founder

We love this quote because it speaks to the work that we do for our clients at Agon Management Group. There are many companies who offer services with fancy names, but not all of them deliver real results. The way we see it, what’s most important is acquiring happy customers for our clients, and that doesn’t require jargon or buzzwords. Delivering quality is what it’s all about.

“By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be. Put your future in good hands — your own.” –Mark Victor Hansen

This quote might as well have been written by Tarek Beidas, the president of Agon Management Group! Did you know that writing down our goals is actually part of our morning routine? Not only do we record our weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals, but we also jot down what we’re looking to accomplish that day. It would be safe to attribute a big part of our firm’s to success to this very habit.

“Teamwork is so important that it is virtually impossible for you to reach the heights of your capabilities or make the money that you want without becoming very good at it.” –Brian Tracy

We often refer to what we do as a “people helping people” business. Teamwork is such an integral part of the success of any individual that if a person is only out for himself, he will not advance. The people who are most successful at Agon Management Group are the ones who genuinely care about seeing others succeed and are willing to take the time to help them do so.

Austin Event a Success for Agon Management Group

agon-management-groupkts.jpgAgon Management Group in Mclean, VA recently joined hundreds of sales and marketing professionals from around the U.S. and Canada for the largest kick-off event of the year in Austin, TX! This annual event is geared towards recognition for top industry performers from the previous year as well looking ahead to new goals. It’s highly anticipated and this year’s event definitely did not disappoint. Check out some of the highlights!

Friday afternoon, attendees headed to registration to get their all access passes as well as check out vendor booths before their meetings began. Clients gathered to go over best practices, new announcements as well as recap 2016 results. The evening concluded with a welcome mixer for attendees to enjoy appetizers, drinks, and mingling with other guests

Saturday was a jam-packed day for Agon Management Group and the others. Breakfast was followed by a general session in which big awards were handed out, one after another. There were some huge announcements of new bonuses that will be up for grabs this year, which undoubtedly had the Mclean team salivating and motivated as can be. The group also heard about exciting new technology that is impacting the sales and marketing field. The crowd’s energy was high as a DJ, yes a DJ, was spinning in the background. People cheered and rang actual cow bells as bonus recipients took the stage. It was truly like nothing we have ever seen at a business conference.

Throughout the afternoon individuals attended smaller breakout meetings where they received coaching on different aspects of business catered toward their personal development. This is one of the areas where Agon Management Group took away tons of knowledge to bring back to their office! Once meetings ended, attendees raced to get in their formal gear and head to the cocktail reception and awards dinner. Yes, more awards! Over the course of the evening over $13,000 was raised for Operation Smile and one lucky 50/50 raffle winner left with an all-expense paid trip to London! Dinner entertainment included dancers, contortionists and lots of funky costumes.

Overall, it was an awesome event with lots of great takeaways. To learn more about the lessons learned by the Mclean, VA team, be sure to connect with them on Crunchbase and stay tuned for more pictures and details!

Be a Duck — and 2 Other Tips to Keep a Positive Attitude at Work

Agon Management Group shares their tips on how to keep a positive attitude at work.

agon-management-group-1Have you heard this one before, “Your attitude determines your altitude”? Well, at Agon Management Group in McLean, we believe in that mantra whole-heartedly. The best part is that your attitude is one of the only things that you are completely in control of. How you react and handle challenges that arise is up to you. How you deal with negative people is your decision. And how you view your circumstances is, yet again, your choice. But lucky for you, we are sharing three simple tips on how to maintain a positive attitude!

1. Avoid the Negative Nancy’s. There are always going to be people who complain about the world being out to get them. These are the people who have a knack for finding the negative in any situation. Your best bet is to simply avoid them. And when you can’t, at least limit your time talking to them. Whatever you do, don’t let their negativity wear off on you!

agon-management-group-22. Identify what brings down your attitude or stresses you out, and plan accordingly. If you know that you are a hangry person… don’t let yourself get too hungry, have snacks handy! If you know that you lose your mind when things are disorganized, plan ahead and stick to your schedule. Whatever it is that might affect your attitude, do your best to accommodate ahead of time.

3. When in doubt, be a duck. You see, duck feathers are waterproof. Any water that accumulates on them literally rolls off and the duck doesn’t feel a thing! That’s what you have to do when uncontrollable circumstances arise that could fluster you, just let them roll off your back like water on a duck. You can’t control everything, but you can choose how you react to them!

Why Your New Year’s Resolutions Haven’t Worked — And How To Change That

agon-management-group-newyearAgon Management Group (McLean, VA) has already kicked off 2017 with a bang. If you’re like us, you probably know dozens of people who have made New Year’s Resolutions — and you probably even made a couple yourself. We are of the belief that a new year is not necessary to make changes in your life; however, it is a natural restart that is worth taking advantage of.

For many, New Year’s Resolutions last a month — maybe a few, at best. With today being the eighth day of January and just over the first week of the “new you,” it’s the perfect time to check in and make sure that your daily habits have you on track to achieve your goals.

We talked to some of the staff at Agon Management Group to find out why their Resolutions haven’t panned out in the past and what they’ve learned to ensure that doesn’t happen again. The good news for you is that we’re sharing their tips with you!

Here goes…

You don’t really want to do it. Most ‘Resolutioners’ set themselves up to fail from the very beginning. When setting their resolutions they do not find something that is deeply motivating and that they are truly passionate about. So when things start getting difficult, inconvenient, or the novelty wears off, they fall off the bandwagon. This year, choose something that you know, come hell or high water, you want to… no… NEED to do. That way, you will genuinely care about completing your mission!

They are unrealistic. It’s good to have high ambitions, but not so high that it feels unattainable in the time limit that you are giving yourself (in this case, one year.) Instead, decide on something that will challenge you and push you to become better, but will not discourage you.

There is no plan in place. “A goal without a plan is just a dream.” Wake up! In order to achieve something great, it isn’t going to just happen to you! Put an action plan in place to keep you on track and if you start to get sidetracked, revisit that plan. Consider it a map to your destination. There may be roadblocks, detours, and accidents along the way, but you still need to get there!

We hope that these tips help you achieve your resolutions this year, for once! To learn more about Agon Management Group in McLean, connect with us on LinkedIn.

Ringing in the New Year with Another Management Promotion at Agon Management Group

Here at Agon Management Group we could not think of a better way to close out 2016 than yet another promotion to Management! After already opening a new office in Pittsburgh earlier this year, Carl Udeozor is the most recent addition to the Management team. In lieu of his promotion and the overall successful year that the company has had, the entire leadership team rented out a house in Atlantic City for a weekend to celebrate!

agon-management-group-carlpromoted1Throughout Carl’s time at Agon Management Group he has traveled across the country to help develop new sales teams for varying clients in New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. With this promotion, he will be in charge of the Maryland market for a client in the energy industry and they couldn’t be in better hands. President Tarek Beidas describes Carl as someone with a great student mentality, always listening to coaching and feedback, extremely competitive, and an individual who operates with the highest integrity. He went on to say that the challenges that come with the day to day interaction with customers never bothered Carl, he always had a great attitude and never let anything stand in the way of his goals.

“Carl is extremely self-motivated. I never had to worry about motivating him myself, he just understood his opportunity here and did what he knew he had to in order to earn it,” added Tarek.

agon-management-group-carlpromoted2When we asked Tarek what was one thing that he would miss about Carl when he opened his office in Maryland he talked about the memories that he has about Carl carrying an “unnecessarily large bag” around with him wherever he went. You could tell by his friendly, joking tone that these two have developed a great biz-bromance. So what is in this unnecessarily large bag? “I don’t know, 3 different laptops, numerous changes of clothes… it looks like he is always traveling!” explained Tarek.

As a part of the Management Training program that Agon Management Group provides, Carl gained all the necessary skills to leading a marketing and sales team. During his time with the company, he also reminded Tarek a few valuable things as well.

“Carl is always building people up, giving props to those who deserve it and extremely positive all of the time. He also gives people a chance. He takes the time to coach them and won’t give up on anyone too early,” explained Tarek.

Carl will be taking a team with him as a part of the expansion to Maryland and we wanted to know what piece of advice Tarek wanted to send him off with. This is what he had to say. “Continue to lead from the front, setting the example for your team. Spend time with your guys in and out of the office to develop strong relationships and really be involved in their coaching and development.”

Claudia Cox, Trainer at Agon Management Group, Reviews Key Lessons She’s Learned Here

At Agon Management Group few things are as important to us as providing an environment that fosters personal and professional growth for all of our employees. We are proud to work with some of the most motivated, hardworking, and talented individuals in the greater D.C. area, and it isn’t lost on us that this comes with great responsibility.

Claudia has mastered the art of the conference selfie!

Rather than just providing a paycheck, we strive to make our McLean firm a place where our people are challenged on a daily basis. We want each member of the team to feel that he or she is moving forward in his or her career and developing the skills and mentality that are necessary for success in any business field.

The management team of Agon Management Group is happy when each person is thriving, no matter the end game. Many of our team members take part in our management training program with the intent to move up quickly into an executive-level role. Others choose to use their time here to build an extremely impressive resume. Continuous learning and growth is the name of the game no matter what.

We decided to steal some of Claudia Cox’s time to find out what her biggest takeaways have been since joining our company just four months ago. Claudia has very quickly become a key player on the team, which is not just a testament to our merit-based advancement philosophy, but Claudia’s hard work and entrepreneurial mentality. You’ll undoubtedly be impressed by the words she’s shared with us below.

Our first question for Claudia was the biggest personal lesson that she’s learned while working here at Agon Management Group. We wanted to know what takeaways would apply to her personal life and relationships, and here’s what she had to say:

“I’ve learned so much about myself while being in this management training program. The most important thing I’ve learned is that having a student mentality is necessary. It will get you very far in life and in this business. Since day one, I’ve seen my mentor and supervisor show me how important is to always be a step ahead. Learning from her student mentality has influenced me to always ask questions and want to learn more in order to be a step ahead of others. There’s something new to learn every day and I want to be ahead so that I can always be prepared, no matter what comes my way in business and in life.”

The next question we had was regarding a professional skill or mindset that she’s gained since joining the team. We wanted to know what she’s learned here that she felt would be most beneficial in her career. Claudia shared the following:

“I’ve learned that you are your biggest challenge! It’s all about a strong student mentality and a positive attitude. I’ve learned a lot about myself and have come a long way. Without my mentors teaching me that I should always challenge myself I wouldn’t be growing so quickly in this business. With a successful mentality I’m able to continue to achieve the goals I set.”

It’s clear that Claudia is not only a student of life (and business!) but a person who is extremely self-aware and emotionally intelligent. We promise to keep you updated on her success, so stay tuned!

An Important Reminder from Agon Management: The Right Mental Attitude

Here is some insight into the record-breaking success of Agon Management Group in 2016.

“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.”
–Thomas Jefferson

agon-management-groupIt’s almost as if Thomas Jefferson was part of the leadership team at Agon Management Group! Just kidding. We’d like to think, though, that he would be proud of the core lessons we strive to impart to all of our team members.

What we love most about this quote is that it succinctly expresses an incredibly important truth: that a person’s mentality is the most important factor in whether he or she achieves success — or achieves anything for that matter.

Many people believe that they are handed a set of circumstances which block them from achieving success. They often become complacent and focused on their woes. They typically complain, make excuses and dwell in self-pity. The result is usually inaction, which does nothing for a person’s happiness or his ability to achieve his goals. This is what Jefferson means by “the wrong mental attitude.” It should hopefully go without saying that it is natural for any human being to experience sadness and emotion. However, the point here is that the only way to change one’s circumstances is to change one’s attitude. At Agon Management Group we believe that attitude is a choice that we make over and over again throughout the day.

The person with “the right mental attitude” has boundless opportunity and also enjoys a greater level of happiness. She feels empowered, rather than powerless. She accepts her less-than-ideal circumstances but doesn’t allow them to hold her back from realizing her dreams. She doesn’t make excuses and she doesn’t complain because she recognizes that those behaviors are fruitless. If she encounters an obstacle she views it as a bump in the road and not a road block. She chooses to surround herself with others with a similar positive attitude. She doesn’t care much for what naysayers have to say about her dreams because her vision is impervious. She believes that she is in control of her destiny and she is well on her way to achieving her goals.

The success of our team at Agon Management Group this year is because of the right mental attitude. This is not to say we are perfect — but we do indeed strive for excellence in this area. The right attitude starts at the top with our president, Tarek Beidas. It is modeled by our assistant managers, Carl and Sarah. It is possessed by our leadership team. And it is filtered down to every person who joins our leadership development program.

Thank you, Thomas Jefferson, for these incredible words of wisdom. For more wise and motivational quotes, be sure to follow us on Twitter at @Agon_McLean.
